JOM Charity (SCIO) presents “For Art Sake” (Art, Culture Exhibitions & Celebrations 2025)

FUNDED BY THE NATIONAL LOTTERY COMMUNITY FUND

Togetherness Through Arts

by Josephine Macleod

Our project, “For Art Sake,” responds to the community’s call for innovative events to combat loneliness, anxiety, and depression, especially during challenging economic times. From May to November 2025, we will offer 12 workshops that explore painting, photography, sculpting, and textile arts like Batiks and Tie & Dye.

These workshops will ignite creativity, foster friendships, and promote mental well-being. The project will culminate in a vibrant open day and celebration in December 2025, followed by a rotating exhibition at our Art & Heritage Centre in Milngavie and on our social media platforms, showcasing the incredible creative works of participants until May 2026.

This initiative will create a pathway for individuals grappling with isolation and stress, nurturing an environment of social inclusion while celebrating the richness of diversity through art. We will amplify our impact through social media engagement, open-day events, consultations, and various art and heritage activities.

Throughout the project, we will gather feedback to assess its effectiveness and inform the development of future initiatives. “For Art Sake” builds on our past efforts while opening doors to new creative avenues, all focused on promoting community well-being and cultural enrichment. This endeavour reflects our unwavering commitment to the needs of our community and the enhancement of diversity and inclusion through the arts.
