“For Arts Sake,” responds to community consultation regarding the positive need for innovative events tackling loneliness, anxiety, and depression linked particularly to very bad economic periods using creativity.

The aim is for participants to have fun and enjoy their creativity.

The U3A Photography Competition kicks of on 1st April and submission deadline is 15th of May.

The theme is Nature –

The Competition categories are-
1). Working the land – farm & farmers
2). Flowers in close up
3). Farmers Market

Conditions & Rules

1). The Competition is open to all U3A photo group that wish to participate.
2). Entries maybe coloured or Black & White.
3). One Entry per photographer in each of the categories.
4). All entries for Exhibition and winners of the competition must be mounted on white, cream or black mount boards. Maximum mount size 18” * 24”
5). Each print should be clearly marked name, email address & categories of which it has been entered.
6) Prints are submitted at owner’s risk. There is no entry fees.
7). All entries should be new work not seen previously.
8). Entries should be submitted digitally to JOM Charity email address
jomcharityonline@gmail.com and U3A specified google photo account for the competition and the winners and those that opt to partake in the exhibition should submit a mounted photograph as previously specified. Photographs will also be exhibited online and in other venues.
9). Participants will choose the winners.
1st, 2nd & 3rd prize in each category. Secret ballot process.
10). Prize giving will be on Sunday, 8th June, 2025 At For Arts Sake Celebration @ Milngavie Week from 4 to 6pm International food & refreshments & music afterwards.

Other Activities for your diary

The project will run a studio lighting portraiture photography workshop on Friday, 6th June, 2025.

On Saturday 7th June, 2025 photographers are welcome to visit Milngavie Art, Book & Music festival stand, and partake in activities including life painting, sculpting & photography demonstrations of vintage cars on display for Milngavie week.
