Carla Faulkner was born in mid-Wales, grew up in the Scottish Highlands and now lives in the shadow of the Campsie hills North of Glasgow.

She has been painting the Scottish Landscape since age 13. The vastness of inspiration from bleak moors to bustling city streets, all made wonderous by the fleeting light and shifting weather means there is always something more to capture.

Carla is fascinated by Scottish folklore and the connections between land, people and industry. She is interested in our sense of place and time in the landscape.

Carla uses a variety of mediums, including pastels, acrylics, and oils to explore our perception of beauty in the landscape. She seeks to understand our relationship with the man made objects and the marks we leave on it.

She also paints on silk and other textiles as well as crocheting a variety of creatures using the amigurumi method. She is one of 5 artists running their own wee gallery shop selling locally handmade gifts and art. CreateED can be found at 46 Cowgate, Kirkintilloch and is open Tuesday to Saturday.
